What is his name now? You might want to choose a name that is close to or rymes with his current name so he won't be so lost and not know you are talking to him calling him a strange name. If it was me, and he was already named, it would not matter that a friend had a dog named the same thing...after all, you did not name him that...he was already named! I understand that you would want to change it if you absolutely did not like the name tho...after all, he will be your dog...this is just MY opinion...
