Welartl, my Mom left today for another 3 1/2 weeks in southern Sudan. She will live there in a tent with no electricity or running water....all to work with a mission medical clinic and a team of doctors coming in for the next few weeks.
She spent a month there last summer (never guessing she'd ever get to go back!) But this year, she really knew what kind of items to bring and share with the people there. The kids only have one outfit to wear if they even have clothes at all. Many area consignment stores donated clothes to her, and also learning games, maps of the earth, and educational materials that can be understood by pictures instead of in the English language, of course.
She will be in Akot, Sudan helping the Dinka. Here is some interesting info:
www.Dinka.org - if you click on "clinic" you can read more about where she is.
Anyway, my Mom is hardcore and I'm so proud of her! Please keep her in your prayers as she travels and helps at the clinic - also pray for the others on her team, as Sudan is not exactly the most peaceful place to be right now. However, the political unrest doesn't affect much of the southern parts of Sudan, where she will be.
