This is how I learned it....
Start with sit
Then move on to "down"
Once they have gotten this down, you can start teaching roll over
Take the treat, put it in front of them so they know you have it, then move it around the body, over the shoulder. The dog will try to follow it with their head and once their head goes so far, they will automatically roll over. Continue to say "roll over" as you are doing this.
It took Sadie a while, but she caught on & now I can't stop her from rolling!
