Neutering doesn't necessarily stop the humping. I was told that if you do it early enough and essentially the pubescent behaviour doesn't set in then you have a good chance of it not happening. But humping is also a dominance declaration...there are females that hump as well. So to stop the humping definitely tell him no when you catch him. From what I have read and heard from the vet he also told me that their hormonal level doesn't lessen right away and it might take a month or two after the neutering.

My dog is not Neutered and when I catch him humping his bed I tell him to stop and he will look at me ...give one more hump and then be on his way.
