Default do hormones disapear after neutering.

When a dog is neutered...i always though all of the hormones were taken out...however...I know many body functions require hormones and I had one vet say (about a neutered dog who kept humping) that some dogs have more testosterone then others. So my question is...is it that all testosterone disapears or only part of the hormones disapear and make it less likely for them to do those undesirable behaviors?
