I would tell her to have her spayed now. I think it is too late for a shot and they are not 100% effective I am told.
Pups will be born when the mother is a year...not ideal by any means, but if she has her spayed after the pups are weaned it should not shorten her life span. The problems come with breeding too young AND continuing to breed...the bitch is worn out, usually loses all her teeth and health problems set in.
