He actually paid for the engagement ring, and I paid for the wedding bands. But, in Jersey if the man breaks it off the woman gets the ring and visa versa. He wouldn't have taken it back anyway. And you're right...if he wanted it back he would have had to take me to court! He wouldn't have won because my mother lost A LOT of money on the hall, dress, limo deposit, etc. And that's all worth more than I'm even getting for the ring. I was originally going to give my mother $3000 for what she lost on the hall, but she said I could keep it since I just bought a house
