He does ask to go outside most of the time, but if he sees its raining he won't go outside. So I had to have an option. I also don't like getting up in the middle of the night or at 4 am to let him outside, and neither does my husband, so we had to come up with something.

Sometimes, though he just uses the pad even though we are home and it is nice outside. I don't know if its because he just can't get our attention or he is getting to used to going inside on the pads.
