I've wondered about this. When Brandy was a baby I was very careful about letting her outside without me. Now that she if full grown (almost 6 lbs) I don't worry about it as much. Do you think a hawk or owl could pick up a 5-6 pound dog? The hawks around me are red tailed hawks. Some are pretty big but not bigger than Brandy, I don't think. I've never seen an owl in my yard but I have seen them near by. I used to have a cage of finches in my kitchen window and one time a hawk swooped down and smashed into the window. The hawk then flew over and sat on my fence shaking his head for about 5 minutes before he finally flew away. I thought it was amazing he spotted the tiny little birds through the window.
