I read somewhere that it is not good to wake dogs up when they are sleeping or something though.. maybe when they are pups!!

When I watch Guinness, I often feels the same as you. What I do is... to just go near him and touch him to see if he is breathing!!! so he doesn't wake up.. and I just pad him... instead..
