I also have a cat and my yorkie loves to play with her. They chase eachother around the dining room table. (it's fun to watch) Just introduce eachother when you first bring your yorkie into your home.
If you are scared of your cat scratching your pup, have the cat declawed.
But I'm sure, if you give both pets equal amount of attention, they will both grow to be great pals.
