Ok, so I would love to be able to take Matthias with me everywhere. I hate the times when I have to leave him at home. But there are laws for a reason. It really perturbs me to hear folks say that they know dogs aren't allowed but are encouraged to sneak their dogs in anyway. Could I get away with sneaking Mattie in everywhere? Yes. Would I? Not a chance when I know they have a no pet policy. Why?
Have you ever stopped to consider that there may be someone in the proximity that is allergic to dogs? Some allergies are so severe that just being in the proximity of these beautiful animals is enough to set off full blown attacks. Is it really worth it to you to know that you have caused this person a health issue just because you couldn't leave your Yorkie for two hours?
I'm not one to sit here and preach at folks. In fact, I barely post in this board anymore at all, even though I do read it every day. But this post is close to me because while I have Mattie, I also have family members and friends that are allergic to dogs. I don't bring Mattie to them and they obviously don't meet at my place. It's called basic common courtesy. To hear the post started out with words like "sneak" and then followup comments from others here using the phrases "if you can get away with it, go for it!" really sits wrong with me. We are supposed to be community of RESPONSIBLE Yorkie owners. And to deliberately break the rules (or laws) just so that you don't have to leave your Yorkie for a small period of time is just wrong. Do you sneak your dog to work? To school?
I want to go to the movies too. I want to be able to do it more often than I do but with a disability that just isn't possible. But when I can, while I hate leaving my Mattie home, I'm not about to put someone else's health at risk just so I can cuddle with my baby boy during a movie that will come out on DVD in 6-9 months anyway, when I can watch it at home, snuggled on my recliner with a blanket, popcorn, dog treats, drink of my choice, and privacy.
I'm sorry for the rant, and the mods can go ahead and delete this or reprimand me if they want. I don't care. But I had to say it if no one is going to. I hope you did enjoy the movie, as it's one I want to see as well. But there is no movie out there worth the cost of someone else's health or even a fine that will cost more than the DVD when it comes out. |
