I don't squirt her in the face the only part that ever gets wet is her back, and she doesn't get very wet at all. I most definitely wouldn't not approve of squirting her in the face. Have you tried putting her somewhere other than your bedroom to see if that helps. Or you may want to just break down and put her in the bed with you.
Neither of my yorkies bark a whole lot so I guess we are very lucky.
It's really just preference.
