Mollie use to be the same way. My vet had a really good suggestion. She told me to try and put her either on the washer or dryer to groom. I never tried it because she started getting better.
The only other thing I can suggest is patience. Wyatt runs from me if he even thinks he may be getting brushed out or a bathe and holds a grudge for most of the day.
