I don't remember phone #'s like drake 88765 but in the really small town my grandparents lived in you only had to dial the last 4 digits of a phone #...and if the other party you were calling was on your party line...you had to do something special to dial their #, but I can't remember what it was. When we were little kids visiting my grandparents we always thought it was funny to listen in to the old lady that was on their party line....I'm sure she hated being on a line with my grandparents because there were 10 of us cousins, so she never had any privacy on the phone...that is if she could find the line available in the first place!! | you dialed the last 4 digits and then held the button down so it would ring in to them and then you would lift the button to see if they were on the line yet.
