My mom told me about party lines...haven't heard about those in a while.

I was born in '75 so there weren't any of the current conveniences--cell phones, internet, microwaves, DVDs, CDs, etc., I think audio cassette tapes came out in the early '80s so they might have been before my time. MTV came out in '82, wasn't it (back in the day when there were music videos on MTV)????
