My litter of puppies are going to be 8 weeks old this friday, and I had their first set of shots at 6 weeks, they will get the second set at 9 weeks and the thrid set at 12 weeks. They should have stayed with the mother until at least 12 weeks, but so many people don't realize this about toy dogs. Some want to let them go at 6 weeks and the is way, way too early. I didn't learn this until after I got my first 2 at 7 weeks also, but they are not near as socialized as my other dogs. I don't allow any of my pups to leave until they are 12 weeks, the mother has a lot to do with socializing them too. I don't think that it will be bad that yours doesn't get out right away. |
