When Lucy was 5-8 months or so we had a pool and let her try to swim..she would try but eventually she would sink..she just didn't have enough leg power at that age..and the xs floatation vest for doggies was still too big,but I haven't had the opportunity to see how well she can do now since she is and adult..I am sure they can swim ( it is an instinct)but for how long I don't know..
