being in the toy group doesn't mean the term "toy" is used to name the breed distinguishing it from a "standard" version. poodles for instance comes in standard, miniature, and toy and compete in two different groups, toy group and non-sporting. same with the schnauzer, they also come in standard and miniature and compete in the working and toy group depending on the breed variety. the standard poodle is considered a different breed from the toy poodle and are judged based on their own breed standards.
yorkshire terriers only comes in one variety and judged based on a single standard. there is no "toy yorkshire terrier" in the toy group and a "standard yorkshire terrier" in a different group. the term "toy yorkie", "standard yorkie", "teacup yorkie", "miniature yorkie" are all just marketing terms not a breed term. |
