I was thinking that maybe you should contact the breeder that you got Bently from. Didn't they give you a health guarentee? Maybe you got him from a pet store, they usually give you a health guarentee too.
It sounded like he just got sick... not because of any trauma or anything so you may want to try following up with who you got Bently from first to see if they can either reimburse you since he was so young.
