With small little dogs like we Yorkie owners have (or any other dog for that matter) -- we just can't assume that all the dogs we meet in public places are friendly....because, unfortunately, they aren't.

And - I agree - I don't understand why people take their "not-so-friendly dogs" out to public places around other animals. Perhaps they are trying to better socialize their dogs - but public malls may not be the best place to do this. Or - perhaps - they just don't know any better. Don't we all know that there are some very bad mannered dog owners in this world. We meet them everywhere.

My advise is never assume another dog is a friendly dog -- until you know for sure. I think most dogs are friendly - especially the ones whose owners spend time with them and take them places........ but, we need to always be prepared for the occasional one that isn't.

***** And - as you experienced -- it is often the smaller dogs that are the most aggressive.
