Confused German Shephard & Toy Yorkie

Hey Everyone!
I'm new here and i just wanted to get some advice about a little issue i'm having.

I have a 5 pound Yorkie named Harry. He is the most friendlist dog you will find. He gets along great with other animals.

My fiancee and I were discussing about getting another dog. I of course wanted another Yorkie or a Pug but he wants a German Shephard. He told me that since I'm home alone at night (he works at night) he wants to have a "real" dog to protect me. I agreed because its true. I dont think Harry will protect little ol' me if someone were to break in the house. He'll probably wag his tail and demand a belly rub from the intruder. Anywho...we're planning on getting the German Shephard as a puppy so we can train her and have Harry get use to her.

Do you think getting a GS will be safe for Harry?? I was told that since Harry is a male that i should get a female so that there wont be any territorial issues. Also i was told that since i have a small male dog that the GS will most likely adopt Harry as her own since she is the bigger one in the house. What do you guys think????? I dont want to come home and find Harry in her mouth when she gets bigger. Please ADVICE! HELP ME CALM DOWN ABOUT THIS! THANKS!
