All sounds normal to me. They are growing so they eat a lot and therefore they poop a lot. What goes in must come out.

I've seen other posts where it is suggested that you put their toys around the edge of the pee pad to keep them from going on the edge. But the plastic tote sounds like an excellent idea too. I might try that
