The worst thing you do is to give her treats, becuase then she thinks she get's treats because she's barking.
My pup barked sometimes in the beginning but I have a waterbottle, with water and lemon and sprout (?) at her..they don't like lemon...
Or you could try a barkingnecklace...(i don't know if you cal it that)...they aare expensive but they do work!!!
I the meanwhile you and your roommate should get some earplugs....
