As others have already advised, I always play with my puppy's paws when holding him. I shave the hair between the pads with a battery operated clipper which I got at Walmart for $9 (I also use it on his ears, his belly and his bottom). Then I have the puppy sit on my lap, facing out, and using a coarse emery board that I purchase at Sally's Beauty Supply, I file away while watching TV. There is never any danger of cutting the quick; I've tried various nail cutters and an Oster electric drimmel and have found this method to work the best. |
