Oh, wow! I think we need the wise and powerful FE to come up with that answer. My guess would be that ointment, which by definition is used to cure things, is sticky. So flies would naturally get stuck in something sticky. So by having a fly in the ointment, you have something that is screwing up your attempt to cure something. Make sense? Or am I just tired too?
