There is good information about this in many of the books that I've read. Try making leaving the house no big deal. Try to scramble the clues. Pick up your keys and carry them around the house. Put your shoes on and then go to the kitchen and do the dishes. Put your coat on and go into the bathroom. Etc. The dog will get so confused just trying to figure out what you are doing. Also, dudley is absolutely right. Make leaving no big deal.
We have a problem right now with Loki barking at us while we are cooking. I'm sure in his head he is saying "GIVE ME SOME". We never let him beg and this is a new behavior so I don't know why it started. But now we just put him in his crate when he starts to bark and he gets to stay in there until we are done eating. So if he barks, he gets to miss out on all the fun. We just started doing this but I hope it helps. |
