like you I agonised over the right time to spay. unlike you, having puppies at all wasn't an option as she is a tiny 3 1/2 pounds. I chose to spay at 6 months after reading all I could. I didn't want her going into heat at all. The vet was marvelous and 4 weeks later I have a happy,energetic 7 month old,full of beans and at no risk from other dogs or problems from unfullfilled heats. No personality change-just my lovely girl as usual. No PMT crabbiness! No nesting,or false pregancy. No heat,or avoiding other dogs. I am glad I did it and if she gets taller--well,no problem ,as she is tiny now! lol
