dont be scared to rescue. i rescued baxxxter and he's THE BEST dog i could have asked for. no probs whatsoever. it just depends on the dog you rescue. dont be afraid to be picky. and dont be rushed! and have money saved for vet bills and such. |
Don't move to California. I talked to a breeder who asked for $3000 for a puppy that had features I liked very much. Most are at least $1500, and they come from questionable BYBs. I've even heard of some selling for $4000 and much higher. I ended up going out of state (and out of the country) for my puppy. In any case, I don't think $1000-$2000 is a lot to pay for a dog if you're getting it from a reputable breeder. There are a lot of costs involved in breeding so I don't mind paying that much, knowing that my puppy will be happy and healthy.
