I have tried putting my slippers in with her. My slippers are black and furry and have my smell on them. Thought that might help her. I don't really want to kennel her this weekend as she is so tiny and hasn't had all her shots yet.
So far today, I have kept her in her crate for most of the day. She whined for awhile, but then got quite. Now, she is quiet, unless I walk into the room and she sees me, then she starts up again. It seems so cruel, but I'm just going to try to have her spend as much time in the crate, as possible. So that she can get used to it and realize that it's her "safe" place. I am letting her out every hour for a drink, food, potty, and cuddles and then she goes back in. But I'm only letting her out of it when she is quiet. If she is whining and/or howling, I am not responding. When she is quiet, I am giving her lots of praise (while she is still in the crate).
Anybody know if I'm on the right track? I hope what I'm doing is okay. I feel like such a mean mom!! But I have to keep telling myself that it is for her own good. Everything I have read, has told me that they need to have their den, that it actually helps them be better dogs.

I'm so hoping that this works..
