We have several really wide doors and we bought the plastic lattice at Home Depot and cut it to fit. It's cheap and portable. (If you look in the back of this picture you can see.) I also use a piece on my stairs held up by a bookstop to keep them from going upstairs when I don't want them to.
BTW-when we first got him, Dublin could walk right through the larger weave lattice, so you might want to be sure to get the small right off the bat...
