They won't, unless they can't hold it. If she can't make it through the night, then you need to set an alarm and take her out in the middle of the night. I took Loki out twice a night until he was around 4 months old, then at 2am until he was about 6 months old. Also, Yorkies are smart. Loki would pee on his blanket and then push it under the divider in the crate so he didn't have to sit on it. We ended up taking away his blanket until he was older.
Also, don't rely on the 1 hour per month old rule. Yorkies are too small for this to work. Loki would hold it (awake) for about 30 mins until he was 4 months old. Then an hour, and eventually 2 or 3 hours until he was like 10 months old. I couldn't leave him in there more than 3 hours or he'd pee in his crate. Now he can go 5 hours if absolutely necessary, but I limit trips to 4 hours. He's 1 1/2 now. |
