You can buy "yorkies" for under $1000. here in CA too. Especially unregistered ones. The problem is Backyard breeders don't care about the breed standard and don't have the knowledge it takes to breed for health and temperment. It's very risky to buy from that type of breeder.

Always sad when members on here are disappointed when their Yorkie doesn't look like a Yorkie.

We need to encourage good breeding practices for these wonderful dogs.
