I have used Dawn and Joy dish detergent with great results in the past with strays I have taken it (and with Jolene once...she got fleaed at the groomers). I also REALLY like Capstar...it kills all fleas really fast and I follow it with Frontline spray. The spray works as well as the topspot, only it kills within a few hours rather than 24 hrs like the topspot. The disadvantage is that you have to rub it into their fur, but it is sooooo much more economical.
