I do both. He never really gave me fuss about brushing his hair. He would try to squirm away when he was younger, but I had a tight hold on him and after a while he would just sit there till I was done.

I pretty much brush him every day dry. But if we go a day or 2 without a good brushing I will use Pantene leave in conditioner spray to help tangles. But I don't give it a chance to get really bad. Unless,,,,,,, he gets into something.
