I don't have any advice, I just wanted to say your post cracked me up! I have seen exactly what you are describing- the "floating head" statement still makes me chuckle out loud!
Good for you for taking it in stride and not getting upset. It's just hair- it will grow back out in no time.
She is probably feeling insecure due to the lack of hair and feeling the air on her skin more than before. I am sure she will get use it in no time, but you could maybe put a light shirt on her just so she doesn't feel quite so naked.
