No one has every actually came out and said it, but you know when they are thinking it. I consider Mojo my "son" and people think I am crazy. At a recent family reunion, someone said "well, I see everyone brought their dogs" and I said, "I didn't bring a dog, I brought my son". He is a big part of our family and more of a member then some relatives I have to claim!
My family has gotten use to it now - it took 3 years, but atleast they came around to it. Now, when they buy birthday or holiday gifts for him, they gladly tell people who it is for or tell them about his birthday party or what was in his Halloween basket or Christmas stocking. Plus, I think now they actually come to his birthday to see him eat his cake and ice cream and play with his new toys - before it was just for the food!
No one mentions all the stuff we bring for him when we go places. Before, people would comment on his luggage or how a "dog" brings more on an over night trip then they do.
And the pictures - we shouldn't go there! He has a nice big scrapbook and framed prints throughout the house! I always send or email new photos of him when we get them.
I think sometimes my daughter might feel left out or jealous, but she doesn't need to. (She is pretty spoiled as well). If she brings it up, I just tell her that Mojo doesn't back talk or have attitude or roll his eyes at me! She does get into buying him stuff though!
Awwwwww, our babies!
