I have the groomer clip down Loki's head too so we don't have that problem.
Sorry I can't answer your question - I keep him short.
He does grow about 1 inch a month though - I know because I keep taking him in to get him cut shorter and it all grows back. He has a super thick coat so he gets too hot even if it's 2 inches long.
