I thought I would use a long leash to train her first but it just so happens that one day I put her down while I grabbed groceries out of my car (all while praying she wouldn't run off) and she just waited and walked with me. It was almost like she was just as scared as I was. She didn't want to go anywhere else, just stuck by my side and she explored but not enough to scare me or herself. She kept looking back to make sure I was there.
