although I have not tried it myself as there was no need to, tape should be okay.

Do you already know for sure it will never stand up on its own, or are you just in a hurry

My Tiger had both ears down, then up, then flipped backwards and then up and then one up and the other down and now both up for a long time . . .maybe give it some time. Of course, if the parents don't have both ears standing, then it is possible it won't go up either
