He must have some strong jaws and teeth to chew up a bully stick. I didn't think it was possible for a Yorkie. As far as gulping the food which is bad for digestion. I have heard the suggeston to place a golf ball (or larger if you think it could be a choking hazard for your dog's size) in his food. He has to eat around it and therefore cannot gulp the food down.
