If you are using it on the Auto program it takes 6-minutes. Otherwise you can use it manually too on stairs, and small areas. The area is left slighltly wet, from what it doesn't suction up and I hav enot see any dirt attraction yet.
The only thing I will tell you is it can be costly to use it on several spots. The OXY-GEN that is used with it is $6.49 a bottle at Wal Mart and I was only able to get 6 spots up with a whole bottle. But you only use it with set-in stains so if you have surface stains you only have to use the "GREEN MACHINE" detergent by Bissle which is much cheaper and it is mixed with 1/4 GREEN MACHINE, 3/4 water so it goes longer.
