In the begining when we were first training Millie she did not like the rain either and resisted. Even though we have a fenced in area, we went out with her on a leash and us with our umbrellas. Millie really resisted going potty, but we would give the potty command, repeatively, and not leave until she had gone. (sometimes we were out in the rain for 10-15 minutes) However inconvenient that was for me, my husband, and Millie, I am glad we forced the issue, because she will potty in the rain now. She will hurry up now and it will not take long at all. She knows what is expected of her and that she stays out there until her business is done, so she is quick about it.
As Rem&SilkMom says, we try to time her going out before the big down pour and during a time the rain has "let up" so we minimize the wet factor. But since she is 1 year old now, she does not have to go potty as frequently and there are greater periods of time between potty breaks. |
