There isn't one "best" food, it depends on your dog. You just need to know what ingredients to look for. Stay away from by-products, corn and preservatives. I feed Loki Canidae. It's got all the good stuff in it and a 5lb bag costs about $6, which he eats in about 4-5 weeks. Not bad right? Other good brands are Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold, California Natural, Merrick. Those aren't the only good ones. Loki does well on Canidae because it has probiotics and omega 3 in it. If you need other suggestions, let me know! I have the whole list.

Also, don't go to Petsmart expecting to find these. Everything at the grocery store is junk and the only ones from Petsmart I'd consider is maybe the Nutro, but I'd have to read the label. PetCo has Natural Balance Ultra Premium, which is fine, but Loki had diarrhea on that (also on the Royal Canin, which has a lot of corn in it... we learned our lesson). We get Canidae from Loki's trainer or from Pet Supplies Plus. One of the local dog boutiques carries all the good ones too!
