I'll have to admit, I do watch the show. Somehow I have hope that I will find one good kid on there that will do something that is not selfish like do volunteer time or give some of that money they are blowing to a good cause. On the first season 2 girls who had a party did charge everyone money to get in and donate it to breast cancer. But kind gestures like that have been few and far between.
I also watch hoping that someone will learn some kind of lesson, but so much of it does seem to be scripted. In every episode there seems to be something that the child wants, doesn't appear to be getting, the child throws a fit, and then she eventually gets what she wants. It is very annoying to say the least.
But if anything, that show keeps me grounded. I can not say that I have THAT much money. But I am thankful that I have my family, they are all here and they are all healthy. Money can not buy me that. My husband always talks about wanting to get rich and buy our son a brand new car on his 16th. I tell him that if you work your entire so hard your entire life just for money and ignore what you have now, then you don't get to enjoy what really counts in life and you might regret it because money can not buy you that time back. So lets just be thankful for what we have. |
