Unfortunately, you never know what a new puppy is going to be like until you get it.......

But, it might be reasonably good with a second dog for company.

I know this never works out well - because you become so attached to a new puppy so quickly, but would it be possible to try it for a week or two?

I do think that if you are going to expect a new puppy to stay alone part of the time - you need to establish this routine right from the start. Don't be around it 24/7 for a while and then expect it to be happy being left alone.

I got my pup at 8 weeks and was with it the better part of the first two weeks (but, it slept most of that time) -- and then I went back to work, and he does just great. Being left alone part of the time is the way it has always been for him. So, he really doesn't know any difference.

But - don't we all know - that puppies are different. Some stay home alone better than other - right from the start.

Good luck! Carol Jean
