Being afraid of thunder storms has nothing to do with a dog's size. Many large dogs are totally afraid of storms.

We had a thunderstorm several years ago that burst forth with roars of thunder that almost knocked me off my chair (the loudest I have ever heard in my life). After the first, which was the loudest, I heard little feet coming up the hallway and turned around to see my little pup --- He cocked his head and looked at me and said, "Woof!" as though he was saying, "Did you hear that, Mom?" Then he turned around and went back to the front room and slept through the rest of the storm.

I have had several large dogs (retrievers, etc) --- who were totally scared to death during any storm - and fire crackers - and gun shots - etc. etc. etc.

So - obviously fear has nothing to do with size...it's just the dog. And, if they are afraid of storms, you just have to be there for them and comfort them as best you can.
