I got mine at 8 weeks......BUT - he was a big little pup (weighs 8 1/2 pounds now) and was eating like a little trooper. I took him home and never had any problems whatsoever.

I think "size" and "how well a little puppy is eating on its own" are very important factors to take into consideration.

All my little 8-week old did when I took him home was "eat," "play," and "sleep" constantly. He has always been extremely healthy.

I wouldn't want to take a tiny little pup home that had only recently been weaned. They certainly can have a lot of problems that can be avoided if they stay with their mother a couple more weeks.
