Yes, there are different kinds of biting....but if he's biting or even mouthing you it becomes a respect issue. It could also lead to more serious aggression issues if allowed to continue. You need to place yourself as the alpha. I absolutely agree that he needs all the love you can give him, but he will thrive even more if you also include boundaries for him. Dogs do well with structure and consistent rules. Good luck Latinrose
