Animals have always been a big part of my life. My parents would'nt let us have dogs. So we had birds, hamsters, rabbits, fish, mice etc. When I turned 17 my father went through one of many mid life crisis. He wanted a dog. My brother and dad picked out a pup that was half lab half chow. I was upset and cried about his "poor sister stuck at the pound all by herself." Me being daddy's little girl payed off and I got my little girl the next day. My mom immediately fell in love with the pups and so did the rest of my family. Anyway, this has made me realize that I can never be with a man who does not love dogs as much as I do. Luckily I met a man who not only bought me my Lola, but also calls her his daughter.
My cousin has had two dogs that her husband has taken to the pound. She feels the same way about dogs as I do. She now has to accept the fact that she cannot have a dog as long as they are married because he cannot handle certain dog behaviors like digging. She told me that she cries over this and is so sad that those two dogs are gone.
Anyway, before purchasing a pet, I would make sure that your husband is 100% supportive. I would not want him to resent the fact that you now have this little creature in your life.
Sorry this post was so long.
